Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients:

  • 1 pound catfish fillets cut into 2-inch nuggets
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup buttermilk
  • Cooking spray

Breading Mix:

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
 

Preparation:

  • Pat catfish pieces dry with paper towels
  • Cut into 2-inch nuggets
  • Set up breading station with two shallow bowls

Make Coating Mixtures:

  • Bowl 1: Whisk egg and buttermilk together
  • Bowl 2: Combine cornmeal, flour, and all seasonings

Bread the Fish:

  • Dip each piece in egg mixture
  • Coat thoroughly in cornmeal mixture
  • Place on plate and let rest 5 minutes

Air Fry:

  • Preheat air fryer to 400°F
  • Spray basket with cooking spray
  • Place nuggets in single layer
  • Spray tops lightly with cooking spray
  • Cook 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway

Notes

  • Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket
  • Cook in batches if necessary
  • Fish is done when it flakes easily with a fork
  • Internal temperature should reach 145°F
  • Serve immediately for maximum crispiness
Storage:
  • Store leftovers in airtight container
  • Refrigerate up to 2 days
  • Reheat in air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes
